SNELL AMERICAN CYSTOSCOPE COLD LAMP. WATER OR AIR DILATION, DIRECT VISION.

IN THIS INSTRUMENT ARE COMBINED

The successful features of all other American or European instruments constructed for bladder inspection or ureter cathe- terization together with the following 7 additional important advantages: 1st, Both ureters can be catheterized at the same operation

through one and the same catheter chamber 2nd, One third larger field of vision is obtained than with any other doable catheterizing cystoscope of same outside caliber. 3rd, We give you the same size field of vision as other double catheterizing cystoscopes but with the Snell American ins- trument of 5 sizes smaller caliber. 4th, You can use either water or air dilation easily and success- fully with the same instument. 5th, An acromatic lens system giving a large and magnified field

without reflexes or rainbow hues. 6th, After both ureters have been catheterized and catheters are entirely outside of cystoscope (see technique) you can examine both ureters and ascertain positively by seeing whether cathe- ters are still in the ureters or not. 7th, The most important and incalculable advantage is that when cystoscope is withdrawn from bladder and urethra, the cathe- ters are not withdrawn (as is generally the case with all other instuments) .

These 7 very important features are the result of over oae hundred actual demon- strations on living subjects, demonstrations which have been made with and for a large number of the most prominent surgeons in the U. S. and if you are thinlfing of purchasing a cystoscope, you cannot afford to consider any instument which does not give you these advamages.

Kenosha, Wisconsin

A HOME FOR THE MENTAL INVALID.

Chicago and Milwaukee on the Northwestern Railroad facing Lake Michigan.

THE PENNOYER SANITARIUM has for 45 years given satisfactory care to many nervous invalids. All cases of general invalidism will be cared for in the same careful and painstaking manner as in the past. Hereafter a select class of mild, men- tal cases, alcoholic and drug habitues will be received. With the main building and the four outlying cottages a proper separation can always be maintained between the strictly nervous, the mental invalid and the drug habitue. Dr- George F. Adams, recently resigned first assistant physician at Gowanda State, (New York) Hospital, has become joint manager of the Sanitarium.

Both Dr. Pennoyer and Dr. Adams will reside in the Hopital, thus insuring per- sonal attention to patients and constant supervision over all departments.

A HANDY INFORMER.

This device will meet the approval of the practicing physician who has a number of patients and no office girl to look after them— a combination we imagine that arises not infrequently. The cut shows clearly just what the thing is, and it is certainly neater and more convenient than a slate and pencil, or a collection of cards stuck in the door.

The indicator is 4f inches across the face, and the printing is in such bold-faced type that it is easily read at any reasonable distance. A turn of the knob in front of the dial, advises your waiting patients that you are engaged, with a request to them to please be seated, or that you are absent, to return at an hour indicated on the smaller dial below, or that you are out and do not intend fo return that day.

It is made of spun brass, handsomely nickel plated, and as strong as it needs to be. It retails at $1.25 and is well worth the price.

SENT BY MAIL ON RECEIPT OF PRICE.

Purgasal \ ^rb'uTj'^f or Purgative Salt ^^eTc^! ^le^taX^ufr

Magnesium Sulphate, from which'by our process the nauseating taste, the chief objection to this most valuable salt, has been removed without in any way impairing 'ita therapeutic properties. Each teaspoonful (or dram) contains 30 grains dried Mag- nesium Sulphate, which is equivalent to 50 per cent, of the salt. DOSE :— As a laxative one or two teaspoonf uls in one-balf a glassful of water. As a cathartic, two to four teaspoonfuls in a glass two-thirdg full of water. We would ask the favorable lotice of 'the medical profession to our Granular Effervescent specialty, Purgasal, which repre- sents in itself the highest skill in the manufacture of this class of medicinal prepara- tions. PURGASAL or Purgative Salt, is at once Laxative, Cathartic or Diuretic, accord- ing to dose and effect desired. It is readily and completely soluble, sparkling, effer- vescent, and of most a?reeible flivor. SD<»cial stress is laid upon one quality it •possesses, and that is, it does not gripe. PURGASAL will be found and excellent pre- paration in intestinal disorders, such as diarrhoei, dysentery, constipation, etc.; in Various diseases of the liver, and lead poisoning, and as a refrigerant laxative in acute inflammatory disorders and fevers, ft is the ideal preparation where a thorough un- loading of the bowel is desired. PURGASAL is put up in liottles holding 1 oz., $1.00 •doz. ; 4 oz., $2.50 doz. ; 16 oz.. $12.00 doz. ; and in such manner that the label is instantly ■removable. Purgasal can be readily obtained through any Chicago jobber.

The Largest and Most Thoroughly Equipped of Sanitariums.

The Battle Creek ciauicai lum manage nient were the first to organize a thoroughly complete system of physiological therapeutics. Water-cures had existed before, eclectic institutions, mineral springs and similar establishments— but the Battle Creek institution was the first to organize a system and method embody- ing all physiological agencies.

The fire which consumed the main building of the institution Feb. 18, 1902, gave opportunity for complete reorganization and new equipment. The new structure is absolutely fire proof ; the mode of fire-proof construction employed was, of all so-called fireproof constructions, the only one that stood the test of the recent conflagration in Baltimore.

One hundred and seventy-five rooms with private baths; six hydraulic elevators; electric lights; and private telephone in each room.

Spacious parlors on every floor, roof garden, dining-room and kitchen at the top. Beautiful outlook from every window.

Accommodations for eight hundred guests. Staff of thirty doctors; three tundred and fifty nurses.

Nearly forty years' experience in this institution has demonstrated that the great majority of chronic invalids of all classes, including many considered in- curable, can be trained up to a slate of healthful vigor by a systematic regimen based upon scientific principles, combined with a thorough going application of the resources of hydrotherapy, phototherapy, thermotherapy, massage, Swedish movements, Swedish gymnastics, electrotherapy, and the open-air treatment, guided by the findings of bacteriological, chemical, microscopical and other accurate methods of examination.

Special ward for surgical cases with perfect appointments.

Special departments for diseases of the eye, ear, nose and throat, and in charge of experienced specialtists.

The Doctor's Opportunity

To get money out of his profession comes only in company with hard work. But these hard earned dollars can be made to earn many more.

MAKING MONEY GROW

Is easy if you place it in the right place at the right time. Our General Manager is a Maine man who knows how to make money fast. In partnership with a physician they took a quantity of small stockholders and with $1500 capital earned $3.30,000.00 in 18 months, paid it in CASH at Belfast, Maine. That's HISTORY. : : : : :

We want a whole lot of physicians as partners, want them to come in on the ground floor. We respectful invite progressive physicians to investigate the merits of : : :

NU-TRI-OLA

Preparations. They are something new and are winners. For instance, NUTRIOLA is a genuine Blood and Nerve Food, makes red corpuscles rapidly. NUTRIOLA SKI\ FOOD cures the most obstinate skin diseases, gives relief in a few minutes. : : : :

We will send any physician full particulars about the Preparations, and also show him how to make money faster than ever before. Just a postal card giving your name is all that is needed. We pay the postage.

F there is one thing that you want, when you go into a drug store, it is QUALITY. You want Quality in all drugs and chemicals; Quality in all prescription work; Quality in every- thing that has to do with medicine.

There can be no question about it ! That is why our trade is so large. It is a recognized fact that our label on a bottle of medicine stamps it with Quality, because it uever goes out on any bottle or box of medicine that does not possess Quality,
